Families tell us that we explain things in a way they can understand it, when others have just created confusion.  Clarity and certainty are wonderful things.

I was born in 1963, and grew up in Round Rock Texas. I attended college in 1984 at Texas A&M. Once I graduated, I started a career in Marketing. Originally, I wanted to run summer camps for kids but the pay was terrible and I had college debt!  The best thing I learned in marketing was to explain things to people in a way they can understand.  I must have done ok, because I became the youngest Director of Marketing.

I went back to school to get a master’s in business administration and worked in Tax preparation for a CPA for a few years. I had 3 kids, and in the process, and I started my own tax practice.  Starting my own tax practice enabled me to put them through private school, and take my kids abroad to encounter wonderful experiences.

Along the way, that tax practice led me to owning several companies, and getting some invaluable experiences in people (and their personalities!), companies, financial instruments, and company structures.

Fast forward to Beneficent.  I found this business through a friend that wanted help growing it. I thought to  myself… “This business has a huge benefit for the client personally and financially.”

When I grew up, my family and I cared for our grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles.  We cared for them in their home, in our home, and transitioned them to care communities when it was necessary.  Those experiences taught me the hard decisions that we need to make for our family members best outcome.  I didn’t know then what I know now, and there were many family houses sold and savings accounts depleted in the process.

That experience gives me a passion for what we do.  We help families pull together to get the care their loved one needs, and we preserve some of the assets that they have worked hard for in the process.  Win/Win.  We never compromise care because that’s #1.  People are #1.  But, once we know we have the care we need, we focus on sustaining the assets and directing those the way the client intended.

Hearing the “voice” of our client, often through their spouse and children in our office takes some discernment.  Then to communicate so others in the room get a clear view of options.  The cherry on top of what we do is when family members who may not initially agree can come together with a unified win/win decision on the best course of action. We help people get there.

Families tell us that we explain things in a way they can understand it, when others have just created confusion.  Clarity and certainty are wonderful things.  At the end of the day, the relationship we have with our clients and the relationships they have with their family is very important to me.  I have navigated family caregiving and know that the interaction with my family being good made the tough process a little sweeter.

Outside of work, I have 3 children and 5 additional children when I married Kevin.  I call them my “bonus kids”.   That’s a lot of personalities to pull together and family dynamics keep me sharp for what we do at Beneficent!  I have 11 grandchildren (only one of them is old enough to go to school in 2023).  I always wanted to be the best camp counselor … I can see it happening in a few years!

I have been the owner of Beneficent for 5+ years. However, the Beneficent has been in business for over 19 years.

I began doing education classes pro bono to explain how to preserve assets while qualifying for Long-term Care Medicaid and VA Aid & Attendance as well as other avenues to secure funding for Long-term Care.

Prior to Beneficent, I held a National Marketing Director position for American Residential Services (ARS) for 9 years from 2007 to 2016. Prior to 2007, I owned businesses in various fields. I was a partner in Drill Gas: an oil and gas drilling company, “Will” Fix It: a Plumbing and HVAC Services Company, WFI: a mold abatement company, and was the sole owner of Business Matters Consulting, LLC, a firm that consulted other business owners on growth and exit strategies.

I received my MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and my BS Degree from Texas A&M University.

Life is full, My husband and I have 8 children and 10 grandchildren and counting!
