When I grew up, my family cared for our grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles. We cared for them in their home, in our home, and transitioned them to care communities when it was necessary. Those experiences taught me the hard decisions that we need to make for our family members best outcome. I didn’t know then what I know now, and there were many family houses sold and savings accounts depleted in the process.
I was born in 1963, and grew up in Round Rock Texas on a small farm. I received my MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio and my Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University.
That experience gives me a passion for what we at Beneficent. We help families pull together to get the care their loved one needs, and we preserve some of the assets that they have worked hard for in the process. Win/Win. We never compromise care because that’s #1. People are #1. But, once we know we have the care we need, we focus on keeping assets and directing those the way the client intended.
Hearing the “voice” of our clients, often through their spouse and children in our office takes some discernment. Then, communicating so others in the room get a clear view of options is so important. The cherry on top of what we do is when family members (who may not initially agree) can come together with a unified win/win decision on the best course of action. We help people get there.
Families tell us that we explain things in a way they can understand it, when others have just created confusion. Clarity and certainty are wonderful things. At the end of the day, the relationship we have with our clients and their family is very important to me. I have navigated family caregiving and can appreciate resources like Beneficent that make a tough process a little sweeter and a little smoother.
I have been the owner of Beneficent since 2016, when I acquired it from a business colleague who spent 2016 and part of 2017 teaching me valuable strategies to protect assets in light of the high costs of Long Term Care in home or in a community. Over 200 five-star reviews say we are succeeding in the outcomes for families facing long-term care.
Life is full, Outside of work, I have 3 adult children and 5 bonus children with my husband, Kevin. That’s a lot of personalities to pull together and family dynamics keep me sharp for what we do at Beneficent! I have 13 grandchildren with #14 due in February 2025. I love families and the outcomes we are able to achieve for them.
